Son of Bashir Gemayel calls for national unity
Sheikh Nadim Gemayel, son of late President-elect Bashir Gemayel, on Thursday called for the unity of the Lebanese and for standing up for the resettlement of Palestinians in the country.
Speaking to reporters after paying a visit to National Liberal Party president Dory Chamoun, Gemayel said that discussions had centered on local and regional topics.
"We have also agreed to repeat these meetings, aimed at achieving national unity and closing ranks for the purpose of facing up to deteriorating conditions at political and social levels," Gemayel said. He called on the Lebanese to get ready to face up to the threat of resettling the Palestinians in this country.
"I also called for renewing the good relations that prevailed between the late presidents, Camille Chamoun and Bachir Gemayel," Nadim added.
Gemayel also held a public rally in Achrafieh that drew a large crowd.
